Retirement Community Residents to Host and Model in Fashion Show and Luncheon

Concordia Life Care Community Ladies Auxiliary plans third annual luncheon benefiting Concordia’s Benevolent Care Fund.

The Ladies Auxiliary of Concordia Life Plan Community will host — and model in — “Patriotic Promenade,” the third annual themed luncheon and fashion show. Proceeds will benefit Concordia’s benevolent care fund for residents in need of financial assistance to remain in their homes. This fundraiser will be held at the India Shrine Center on Saturday, July 9 at 11:30 a.m. Guests will delight in lunch by Romano’s Macaroni Grill, entertainment by Harpist Barbara Bonham, beautiful fashions presented by Christopher and Banks and a special keynote address by Oklahoma City author and philanthropist LaDonna Meinders.

“Since moving to Concordia, I have made great friends and consider the community to be my home,” Ladies Auxiliary Chair Val Reed said. “Our annual fashion show and luncheon is a great opportunity to give back to Concordia by helping build our benevolent care fund. What better way to do this than with an afternoon of delicious food and great fashion — it has become a tradition that I love.”

The Ladies Auxiliary was established in 2014 and has been a group for resident women in independent living and other neighborhoods to socialize and lead in their retirement community.

“For two years I’ve observed our Ladies Auxiliary pull off fun, worthwhile events for their friends and the greater Oklahoma City community — this year will be no exception,” said Paige Mills-Haag, Fund Development Director at Concordia. “Their efforts, combined with our sponsoring organizations donating their time and services will make this a can’t-miss event.”

As a not-for-profit continuing care retirement community that also offers skilled nursing, Concordia is committed to providing benevolent care to Life Care, including those in assisted living and memory care, residents who have, through no fault of their own, outlived their resources and are in need of assistance to remain in their homes. In order to make this possible, individuals, residents, families, partner churches and local businesses generously donate to Concordia’s Good Samaritan Fund.

Patriotic Promenade’s fashion sponsors include Gooden Group and Solutions Advisors; fellowship sponsors include Right at Home Oklahoma City and Sandler Training of Oklahoma; friends of Concordia sponsors include Aureon, Romano’s Macaroni Grill, Morrison Floral Co. and Greenhouses and Christopher and Banks.

Admission is $10 per person, payable at Concordia’s Concierge desk — (405) 720-7200.
