OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. – Concordia Life Care Community, a nonprofit senior living community in northwest Oklahoma City, was recognized at the Annual LeadingAge Oklahoma award ceremony which was held at the Oklahoma History Center on March 12. LeadingAge Oklahoma’s annual awards honor member organizations and individuals that embody excellence in nonprofit senior services.

Concordia won for Excellence in Community Service and Outreach, which honors organizations or individuals who provide a benefit to the greater community and its residents through outreach. Concordia was recognized for their partnership with the Oklahoma City Housing Authority (OCHA) where they provide complimentary wellness clinics to three of ten OCHA senior housing communities, as well as activities such as bingo, trivia, crafts, photo booths and a lively production of The Price is Right at two OCHA communities. Concordia outreach nurses provide services like blood pressure and sugar checks and educational materials on a variety of health issues. To meet further needs of OCHA, Concordia residents and staff also assemble gift bags during the holidays to deliver to nearly 300 OCHA residents.

Juanita Morales took home an Outstanding Employee Award in the direct care category, recognizing individuals who serve as models of commitment to compassionate care. Morales has worked at Concordia for almost two years and was nominated for her positive impact on residents and their family members.

“Our senior community’s residents, board and team members see social responsibility as much more than just a corporate obligation. We see it as part of the fabric of our culture and something that makes us who we are,” said Danny Eischen, Executive Director at Concordia. “We are honored to be recognized alongside Juanita for her work in direct care and believe these achievements further iterate Concordia’s commitment to our community and our residents.”

LeadingAge Oklahoma represents an association of members who are forward-thinking in shaping the future of the long-term care profession. The organization aims to recognize the work members do to design new programs for wellness, personal enrichment and intergenerational connections.

“The LeadingAge Oklahoma Annual Conference Awards recognize recipients who make outstanding contributions to our field and represent models of leadership, quality and innovation,” said Mary Brinkley, Executive Director of LeadingAge Oklahoma. “We are thrilled to recognize Concordia Life Care Community and Juanita Morales for their outstanding achievement in social accountability and caregiving.”
