Concordia employees receive 2019 Concordia Community Scholarship for continued education

Twelve Oklahoma City employees recently received scholarships from the 2019 Concordia Community Scholarship Program, a program designed to provide continued education opportunities for Concordia employees. The recipients received a total of $13,284 which was acquired through donations, grants and fundraising efforts.

“A great way to go the extra mile with residents, staff and the entire Concordia community is to invest in the people who make our mission possible,” Executive Director Danny Eischen said. “The Concordia Community Scholarship Program is a way for us to show our appreciation for employees’ service and their dedication to continued professional development. 2019 is a record-breaking year for our Scholarship Program, and I hope we can continue to raise the bar for giving back to our valued associates.”

Scholarships were available to part-time and full-time Concordia associates who had been employed with the organization for a minimum of six months and who were seeking educational opportunities in their desired field of study. The 2019 Concordia Scholarship Program recipients included James Thompson, Chris Boadi, Isabel Godinez, Angelina Sibiman, Brittany Smith, Carlene Adamson, Jacqueline Mitchell, Maria Lopez, Rhonda Nowlin, Sajana Adhikari, Lupe Delgado and E.T. Nouvi. The 2019 scholarship committee members included Pastor Ron Christie, Kristen Dobrovolny, Paige Mills-Haag, Fran Morris, Madelyn Maxwell and Barbara Erickson.

Funds for the yearly Scholarship Program are acquired through donations, grants and fundraisers and are monitored by Concordia Life Care Community leadership and committee members. Interestingly, Concordia Life Care residents have also contributed to the Program, showing support for their community and those with whom they interact on a daily basis.

“The Concordia Scholarship Program is made possible with the support and generosity of Concordia’s community partners and private donors,” said Paige Mills-Haag, Director of Fund Development. “Concordia associates deserve recognition for the dedication they bring every day, and these scholarships help us acknowledge their contributions. It’s a team effort, and we’re thankful for our generous donors and Program supporters.”
